Vintage NOS Woodland Camo BDU Field Pants - Multiple Sizes Available

For your consideration are pairs of vintage, NOS, unissued U.S. Military M-65 field pants in woodland camouflage. Multiple sizes are available (see listing options and measurements). These field pants are completely new and unissued! The contract date on these trousers are 1989, but the actual date of manufacture was 1990.

The pants feature large thigh cargo pockets that are secured by three metal snap buttons. The cargo pockets have the famous internal cotton web tapes that allow the wearer to cinch down the pants, which is useful if heavy items are being carried within the cargo pockets. There are two front slash pockets and two rear pockets with external snap closures to prevent dirt, debris or snow from falling into the pockets. There is a small internal waist pocket for personal items. The pants accept standard M-65 field pant liners and have webbing for the attachment of suspenders.

With the adoption of the woodland camouflage pattern in the early 1980's, the military slowly transitioned many of it existing uniform contracts to camouflage versions of the same designs. Although no longer technically called the M-65 field jacket and pants, having been renamed the "Coat, Cold Weather, Field" and the "Trousers, Cold Weather" respectively, the cut and materials remained exactly the same. By the time of the widespread issuing of the woodland pattern cold weather jackets and pants, the days of the pants were numbered. In the early 1990's, the first generation of Gore-Tex and fleece ECWCS cold weather garments were being quickly adopted. Although the field jacket soldiered on well into the early 2000's as a standard issue jacket, it was used mostly in garrison. The appeal of its aesthetic waned among a newer generations of soldiers who were more accustomed to modern, ultralight and waterproof fabrics.

Nevertheless, the M-65 cold weather uniforms remain a staple of military inspired fashion. These trousers are extremely rugged, windproof and water resistant. Old soldiers often favored the M-65 over the Gore-Tex because the latter was always extremely noisy in the field. For this reason, the M-65 trousers are very useful as hunting pants. They are great, heavy duty pants for fall and winter outdoor activities and hiking in cool, wet and thickly forested areas where expensive ultralight fabrics will quickly tear apart. When paired with pant liners and worn over long johns, the M-65 pants are extremely warm and comfortable!

It is important to remember that these pants are very baggy. They were meant to be worn comfortably with an attached liner over multiple layers of clothing.
