1:12 Scale M-72 LAW

This is a 1:12 scale M-72 LAW. This listing is for an unpainted LAW tube in its closed, non-firing position. Your purchase includes a single LAW tube and two sets of decal labels. The model and the decals were accurately produced using an inert, de-milled Vietnam War dated LAW tube as a reference. This is the original version used throughout the Vietnam War with the colorful markings.

Taking note of the devastating effectiveness of the Panzerfaust in WWII, the U.S. Military decided to forego the concept of the dedicated anti-tank weapon for a similar design in the 1950's. The Panzerfaust was a single shot, lightweight, disposable anti-tank rocket launcher on which any soldier could be trained. The idea behind the LAW was to eliminate the specially trained and dedicated anti-tank teams using a reloadable rocket launcher (the bazooka). Instead, every man could become a potent tank killer and carry multiple disposable rocket launchers. In Vietnam, the M-72 proved to be a very effective bunker buster and general purpose rocket launcher. Unfortunately, the early design contained flaws. The electrical firing components were prone to corrosion from the moisture of Vietnam's jungles. This issue was addressed in the late 1960's with the introduction of the M-72A1. Nonetheless, the M-72 with its colorful markings was the primary version used through the war.
