For your consideration is a vintage winter weight woodland BDU patrol cap in size 7 1/4. It is in used, good condition. It is slightly faded. The bill is creased. This is an early issue version dated 1982. It features the insulated ear flaps.
The BDU patrol caps were based on the venerable M-1951 patrol caps made famous by the Rangers. Although use of the patrol cap was widespread from the 1950's - 1970's, they were not the official uniform headgear. The patrol cap superseded the much despised series of OD baseball caps from the 1960's and the 1970's when they were made the official uniform soft cap for the BDU in the early 1980's.
