This is a vintage 3rd pattern OG-107 fatigue shirt with a US Marine Corps Stencil. It is in a size 14.5 x 31. The shirt is in used, good condition. It is faded and there are some burs and there is a pinhole in the front of the shirt (pictured). There are no major holes or tears. There is still some starch left in it from being pressed.
The U.S. Army started issuing the OG-107 sateen utilities in 1952 as a replacement for World War II and Korean War era Herringbone Twill utilities. In spite of their now dated appearance, the OG-107 fatigues were some of the most successful uniforms ever issued by the U.S. Army, having served in its various iterations until the mid-1980's. While they were not ideal for the climate in Vietnam, the cotton sateen uniform served well as a rugged and comfortable uniform (when not constantly starched) for duty Stateside and in Europe.
Prior to Vietnam, the USMC retained its own uniforms. In the 1950's and early 1960's it went through iterations of herringbone twill and sateen utilities with USMC unique features. In the mid-1960's, Defense Secretary McNamara ordered the consolidation of the U.S. Military's uniforms and individual equipment, with the Army being the primary developer and purchasing agent. At that time, the USMC specific uniforms gave way to the Army's OG-107 sateen fatigues, which were then issued as the primary fatigue/combat uniform for all services.
