For your consideration is an OG-507 fatigue shirt. It is a men's size medium. The size tag is long gone, so please refer to the measurements. It is in used, good condition. There is a repair on the lapel where the button was originally located (pictured). There quartermaster label is no longer present. It features the 6th U.S. Army patch and a 1st Infantry Division combat patch, meaning that this soldier was a Vietnam Veteran.
The OG-507 "wash 'n wear" fatigues were introduced in 1976 as a replacement for the venerable cotton sateen OG-107 uniforms. The "507" designator was meant to delineate the new uniform from the previous versions, and not designate a new color. The OG-507 uniforms were made of a cotton and polyester blend which was meant to be a (mostly) wrinkle free uniform, thus obviating the long standing tradition of heavily starching fatigue uniforms. These uniforms received a mixed reception. Their look was not as sharp as the old cotton sateen uniforms and when they faded, they tended to turn a yellowish green rather than the familiar and classic grey green of the OG-107. They were, however, exceedingly comfortable and they had a pajama-like feel to them. These uniforms soldiered on with the U.S. Army and Air Force well into the mid-1980's, but they always retained the stigma of being the 1970's "post-Vietnam Army" uniform.
These are the uniforms that were worn in the movie "Stripes".
