For your consideration is a 1980's USMC issue men's khaki trench coat. The coat is a size 36S. Please refer to the measurements below. It is in used, very good condition and dated 1982. There are several small stains which might be removed by dry cleaning (pictured). Otherwise, the coat appears to have been little worn. This coat has the zip-in liner.
The trench coat has its military origins in WWI. Soldiers living and fighting in the trenches required a functional overcoat that repelled water and provided warmth without the bulk of a heavy wool overcoat. Trench coats were typically the attire for officers who could afford to purchase exceptionally well made, high end overcoats from sporting outfitters and tailors. In the aftermath of the war, the stylish appearance and utility of the trench coat made it a staple of military fashion. This USMC trench coat retains the basic features of the classic trench coat.
A commercially made trench coat of comparable quality would cost hundreds of dollars.
