This is a great item for the Cold War collector or for a beginner trying to learn the basics of map reading and land navigation!
This is a vintage U.S. Army "graphic training aid" for land navigation and map reading. It is in used, good condition. It is bent from storage, but all of the pages are present and there are no tears or water damage.
These booklets were common from the 1980's and into the early 2000's to help teach soldiers basic land navigation skills. In the 1960's the Army realized that printing many of its manuals and references in a simple, easy to read comic format made the information much more engaging to young soldiers than its dry and wordy field manuals.
As a Graphic Training Aid (GTA), these booklets could be obtained by unit supply at no cost. Nonetheless, these were common on Army PX book shelves for individual sale.
