U.S./British Mk. III NBC Pants Size: Small

It's all the same and it's the nastiest side of warfare that no one wants to deal with. Nonetheless, effective protective clothing is a necessity even if no one wants to wear them.

This is a unique item for the collector of gas masks and other CBR items! This is a pair U.S./U.K. Mk. III NBC trousers in a size Small. They are in used, good condition. There are no holes or tears. They are dated 1976

It appears as though the Mk. III NBC suit design originated in the United Kingdom and it was adopted by the U.S. Military for a brief period before it adopted its own "Mission Oriented Protective Posture" (MOPP) suits. Like all modern CBR protective uniforms, the Mk. III made use of an activated charcoal lining to protect from contamination. What appears to be unique about these pants is that they made heavy use of large webbing straps and Velcro tabs for adjustments, which would presumably make them easier to use when wearing the bulky rubber gloves. They feature two large thigh cargo pockets with open tops that are only secured by a Velcro tab. The suspenders are meant to be adjusted by tying them into the webbing loops at the waist. These Mk. III NBC pants would have been issued with a corresponding pullover anorak.
