ERDL M-65 Field Jacket Size: Small - Regular

For your consideration is an ERDL M-65 field jacket in size Small/Regular. It is in used, good condition. It is faded for the vintage camo look. There are a series of repairs on the left sleeve at the bottom of the forearm. Otherwise, there are no defects and this field jacket has much life left in it!

These jackets are often mistaken or misleadingly sold as a rare Vietnam War camo field jacket variant. This was not the case. The ERDL field jackets were manufactured in the USA and sold as commercial items by the same U.S. Military contractor who made the actual issue field jackets. In the 1970's the only field jackets that were issued were the standard OG-107 variants. Soldiers and Marines in units who were issued the ERDL fatigues, either the traditional Vietnam issue versions or the "RDF" versions, were mis-matched when wearing an OD field jacket. These ERDL field jackets were sold in surplus stores and allowed soldiers issued ERDL during that era to wear a matching field jacket (or any civilian who wanted a camo M-65 field jacket, which would have been a unique item at the time). Although the ERDL jackets were made by military clothing manufacturers, they were not made of the same material. The ERDL fabric, is, in fact, simply the 100% cotton ripstop fabric used to make the ERDL fatigues. That means that these field jackets were not nearly as weather proof or rugged as the standard issue versions made of a cotton/nylon twill. As a result, the ERDL jackets are much more lightweight. They do, however, have the internal buttons in order to accommodate a standard M-65 field jacket liner.

Keep in mind that these jackets were sized to be worn over a full set of fatigues.
