$140.60 $175.75

For your consideration is a pair of brown dominant ERDL jungle fatigue trousers in size Small/Regular. They are in used, excellent condition. The colors are very vibrant it they look like they might have been worn and washed only a couple of times. There are no holes or tears.

The ERDL pattern was developed after WWII and named after the Engineering Research and Development Laboratory. The pattern was codified in 1948 and shelved until the early 1960's when camouflage trials were conducted. The pattern was printed on poplin jungle fatigues and issued on a trial basis early in the Vietnam War. The success of the pattern prompted the Army to order ERDL fatigues in mass scale in the new rip-stop material in 1968. They were never issued on an official basis. In spite of their popularity, the Army did not replace the OG-107 jungle fatigues with ERDL uniforms. ERDL uniforms received sporadic issue among Army units, particularly to LRRPs/Rangers and they found their way in small numbers to line infantry units. The U.S. Marine Corps had much more widespread experience and acceptance of camouflage uniforms. Seeing large numbers of ERDL fatigues sitting in depots, the USMC began to issue the ERDL as its primary field uniform for combat Marines in Vietnam starting in 1969.

The brown dominant ERDL pattern was issued interchangeably with the green dominant pattern as they shared the same stock number. Uniforms were even produced with mix and match panels of green and brown dominant. Although the green dominant color scheme is often regarded as the definitive Vietnam ERDL pattern, the brown dominant pattern became prominent in the 1970's. It soldiered on well into the early 1980's from surplus Vietnam stocks and with "RDF" style fatigues that used existing ERDL fabric. The brown dominant pattern was eventually magnified and altered slightly to form the famous "M-81" woodland pattern.
