Vintage M-1951 Field Jacket Size: Small - Regular #1

This is a genuine U.S. Army M-51 field jacket in size Small/Regular. This jacket is in used, good condition. It is faded for the classic OG-107 look. There is a blue stain at the left cuff that appears to be gum and the right cuff is heavily frayed (pictured). There is also a frayed spot above the lower right pocket (pictured). There are no major stains, holes or tears. All the buttons are present.

The jacket is dated 1964 and features the later standard buttons that were introduced in the mid-1960's, rather than the fragile dish style buttons most commonly found on M-51 field jackets. This jacket has the classic early/mid-1960's patches with the white/black name tape and the black/gold U.S. Army tape. It also has an extremely unique patch that I cannot identify.

This is the classic military field jacket. The M-51 was used through much of the Korean War and well into the 1980's during the time that OD field jackets were authorized for wear. Although it was superseded by the M-65 in the mid-1960's, the M-51 was often sought after because it retained the traditional pointed collar. In garrison duty, when pressed and starched, this collar provided a very sharp appearance - one of the reasons it remains a classic icon of American military fashion!

Not only are these jackets sharp, they are extremely rugged. They are a great weatherproof jacket when worn alone, but also provide tremendous warmth when paired with the liner.

Do not pay twice as much for a high dollar reproduction!
