Post Vietnam Issue Black Leather Combat Boots Size: 10R

For your consideration is a pair of G.I. black leather combat boots in size 10R. The boots are in used, excellent condition. It appears as though they were tried on but never really worn. The boots were never broken in. The laces are discolored in places due to sun exposure. This is normal. These boots are dated 1983.

Referred to as "leg boots" back in the day, the standard G.I. combat boot was frequently the envy of the armies of the world. The soldiers and Marines of the United States were typically supplied with the best boots a government contract could purchase. The "highest quality possible at the lowest possible price" almost always produced an extremely sturdy and well made boot, particularly by today's standards.

These are the post Vietnam war issue boots with the directly molded (DMS) chevron type sole. The DMS sole leather boot was originally acquired in 1967 and these are a version that was introduced in the mid-1970's with the full length, single piece back strap and heel cap and the cutouts halfway up the laces to prevent "boot bite". These boots were replaced by the floppy speed lace combat boots in the 1990's, but they continued to be issued alongside the latter and remained an authorized combat boot until black boots were phased out with the ACU's.

The DMS soles meant that these were essentially intended by the military to be disposable boots. Nevertheless, if the leather is properly cared for the boot itself will last a lifetime. They can be re-soled by any competent cobbler who can bond a new sole once the issue sole is too worn.

Forget about suede tennis shoe style "tactical" boots that are cheaply made and last no more than a couple weeks in the field! These are genuine G.I. combat boots that were made in the U.S.A. and the quality is far superior to most commercial boots. The smooth, polished leather provides good water resistance. It also provides excellent support, but not at the cost of comfort. When broken in, a good pair of G.I. combat boots can feel like muscular moccasins.

*A Note on Size*
In my experience, these boots are about 1/2 size larger than the labeled size when worn with medium cushion socks.

Please know your combat boot size before ordering. There are no returns on these. I am not Amazon or Zappos, and I can't afford to ship boots back and forth for the sake of fitting them.
