G.I. Black Jungle Boots Size: 6.5R

This is a pair of genuine G.I. OD black boots in size 6.5R. Used, excellent condition. They were worn very little. The padding in the collars is, however, stiff.

Make no mistake, these are not cheap aftermarket boots from Rothco. These are marked "Spike Protective" and are the real deal! This is the last true variant of the G.I. jungle boots. The boots with the padded collars superseded the first version of the black jungles in the early 1990's, not long after the first version was introduced.

The iconic Vietnam War jungle boots were the extremely successful result of almost twenty years of refinement in the manufacturing of combat footwear for tropical environments. The leather and OD canvas boots were beloved by grunts and issued from the 1960's - 1980's. In 1990 the specification changed to incorporate a nylon upper and speed laces. The plastic mesh insoles were replaced with a simple cushion type insole. OD jungle boots remained within the supply system but were eventually declared obsolete and out of uniform regulations in the late 1990's. Nonetheless, the black jungle boots never quite replaced the OD versions as the latter remained a beloved status symbol and were worn in defiance of regulations for years.
